HEAD TRAINER
TREVOR DARE

World-class reiner Trevor Dare has dedicated his life to all things horse. Born on his family’s horse farm in central Ohio, he was raised by professional horse trainers –father Rusty Dare and uncle Rocky Dare – and mother Linda Dare, a horseback riding instructor and coach of hunt seat and national champion western middle school, high school and college equestrian teams.

Trevor started riding with his parents as a baby and independently at age three. An athletic rider, Trevor played sports as a youth including soccer and novice youth wrestling in addition riding horses. By age five he was loping older show horses for his Dad daily. At eight years, he began helping in the lesson program, riding behind new riders. He also did most of the riding on his own show horses while his Dad supervised. He never owned one horse for very long. Initially, his parents purchased his horses for him, but soon he was training horses and selling them to purchase better ones to show.

Trevor was very active showing in the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). At age six, he began showing in the walk trot division and then the pleasure and horsemanship classes. At age eight, he qualified in reining for the AQHA Youth World Championship Show. He continued to show in reining at AQHA and National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) shows on many different horses. In 2002, Trevor was the AQHA Youth World Show reserve champion in western horsemanship.

As a high schooler, Trevor was captain of his high school wrestling team, team MVP and wrestled in the Ohio State Wrestling Championships. He was a member of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), a competitive riding program for sixth through twelve grade students. In 2006, Trevor was the High Point Western Rider at the IEA Western National Championship Show. NRHA is now a proud sponsor of the IEA. Also, in 2006 Trevor was a member of the United States Equestrian Team in the AQHA Youth World Cup. He and four other riders competed as a team representing the United States with 16 teams from other countries around the world. Trevor won the reining for Team USA and was third in the western horsemanship. Team USA won the AQHA Youth World Cup that year.

After high school, Trevor attended the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio and studied Equine Business management in 2006-07. There, he rode on the UF Western Equestrian Team in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition in reining and western horsemanship. He was the 2007 IHSA Western Regional High Point Rider and the 2007 IHSA National High Point Western Rider. In January of 2008, he decided to take part in the NRHA Internship program for one year. He received an internship with Tod Crawford of Blanchard, Ok. After completing the internship he had the option to return to his home in Ohio and his non-pro status.

In December of 2008 Trevor won the NRHA Limited Open Reining Futurity, so he decided to become a professional horse trainer.
